Turn Indicators Will Not Affect Your Manhood
Using your turn indicator isn’t an option. Your turn indicator is the most effective communication
device you have in your vehicle. When should you use it? Every time you are getting ready to
make a driving adjustment. Whether you are making a turn, a lane change, or getting ready to
pull into a parking space, it’s important that you tell other drivers what you want to
do. You should use your turn indicator on an empty road at two in the morning. Why? Because you
want to make darn sure you use it on a busy road at two in the afternoon. Once you develop this
habit, it becomes second nature and you are always protected.
Some folks who live in big cities don’t want to use their indicators because they think
it’s an invitation for other people to cut them off. Will some people see you use your
blinker and then deliberately cut you off? Of course, there are some rude and nasty drivers out
there. However, you might want to think about the thousands of folks who will let you in. Don’t
let bad drivers dictate whether you use your safety equipment. Don’t get me wrong; after
you turn on your indicator and get ready to make that lane change, LOOK before you move over.
Always look in your mirrors and give a head check before you make a driving adjustment.
By the way, when you use your turn indicator, a half-a-blink isn’t enough. You have to
have it on long enough to let everyone on the road know what you are trying to do. Trying to
judge distance can be difficult so if you want a sure fire way to know how long you should have
your blinker on, try using the five click method. Turn on your indicator and listen for five
clicks. This will always keep you legal and allow everyone on the road to know what you want
to do. If you are using your turn indicator to avoid getting a ticket, you don’t understand
turn indicators. You use your turn indicator to make sure everyone on the road knows what you
are trying to do and, with any luck, they won’t hit you. Be sure to remember who wins when
you use your turn indicator.
